GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) - A Frederick, Md. man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling crack.
Twenty-eight-year-old John Hamilton Kaine will serve prison time followed by three years of supervised release for distributing cocaine base. He got a longer sentence because the judge found out Kaine had three previous drug convictions.
According to his plea agreement, on April 1, 2011 Montgomery County police officers in Germantown saw Kaine engage in two drug transactions. Kaine got into a car and drove away, but the officers stopped the car. He tried to flee, throwing away a plastic bag containing 30 wrapped pieces of crack (totaling 12.67 grams). Kaine was arrested and the plastic bag filled with crack was recovered.
