Volunteer at the 8th Annual Celebration of Gorgeous Prince George's County

This story comes to us from Linda Lowe, Public Information Specialist for Prince George’s County:

Prince George’s County Executive Jack B. Johnson will host the 8th annual Celebration of Gorgeous Prince George’s County from 8 a.m. to noon on October 16, 2010 with street litter pickup activity, and cleanup and pruning of existing Gorgeous Prince George’s Day sites throughout the county.  A volunteer celebration picnic will take place at the Historic Bladensburg Waterfront Park from noon to 3 p.m.

“For the past eight years, my administration has made building and maintaining livable communities one of its most important goals,” says Johnson.  “I am proud to say that celebrating the beauty of Gorgeous Prince George’s County has become a tradition and it continues to make our county a great place to live, work and play.”

The annual event provides community organizations, schools and businesses an opportunity to partner with Prince George’s County Government, Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Maryland State Highway Administration and the Neighborhood Design Center to celebrate community pride, volunteerism and commitment to our neighborhoods under Johnson’s Livable Communities Initiative.
