PGCPS to Host 26th Annual Teacher of The Year Celebration

 

Join Prince George’s County administrators, staff, students, and special guests at the 2012 Teacher of the Year Awards Celebration on Wednesday at Martin’s Crosswinds located at 7400 Greenway Center Drive in Greenbelt.

Twenty-six educators were nominated for “most outstanding educator of the year.” The Prince George’s County teacher who wins will then compete for the prestigious Maryland Teacher of the Year award.

County Executive Rushern L. Baker III and Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Hite will be in attendence as well as Board of Education Chair Verjeana M. Jacobs and the 2011 Prince George's County Teacher of the Year, RaeShauna Mboma.

Student performers in the Jazz Band from Gwynn Park High School will entertain attendees.

The Maryland Teacher of the Year Program recognizes the work being done by the state’s outstanding teachers.

This is the Eighth of an Eight-Part Feature on the designers’ vision and progress at the DC Design House, which is now open through May 13th. The DC Design House benefits Children's National Medical Center.

Victoria Sanchez of Victoria Sanchez Interiors in Alexandria, VA, www.victoriasanchezinteriors.com, was inspired by her own children for the design of Space 21, the Teenager’s Getaway. “I looked to their likes and dislikes, and their wants and desires as I created this design,” says Sanchez, who is excited to part of the Design House but also knows the amount of work that had to be completed in a short period of time.

It’s the Space Shuttle Discovery!  It is the biggest arrival in the Washington metro area since the Beatles performed here on February 11, 1964, Pope John Paul II in October, 1979, Pope Benedict XVI in 2008, and Queen Elizabeth’s many trips here.

The Show will be held on Sunday March 18th from 11 AM to 5 PM at Potomac Floral Wholesale which is located at 2403 Linden Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Over 800 guests from all over the world, consisting of vendors, suppliers, growers, designers, flower shop owners, and floral industry representatives will gather on this day.

Visitors can explore plenty of unique Grower and Vendor exhibits while discovering exciting new flower varieties from Holland, Chile, Israel, South Africa and Japan. Everyone will enjoy live music by the Potomac Jazz Project, while sampling wonderful hors d'oeuvres, foods, and drinks!
