Cupid's Undie Run Raises Cash to Fight Tumors Nationwide

The following information was sent to us by Bobby Gill:

This Saturday, 3,000 runners will strip down to their undies to raise awareness for the Children’s Tumor Foundation in the third-annual Cupid’s Undie Run.

The race has grown from a Washington D.C.-based race to a cost-to-coast event adding five new cities including; New York, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Denver and Seattle.

Participants are on pace to raise $200,000 for the Children’s Tumor Foundation – the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes painful and debilitating tumors that grow on nerves throughout the body. All proceeds raised by race participants are donated to the foundation.

"Currently, there is no cure for Neurofibromatosis and very few treatment options, making events like the Undie Run important for furthering research,” said Bobby Gill, co-founder and Director of National Expansion.  “It’s humbling to see the Cupid’s Undie Run go from a group of friends to a national event. It means we are not only achieving our fundraising goals, but also our effort to raise awareness for this debilitating disease."

This year scantily clad District-joggers will be joined by the famed Washington Nationals Racing Presidents as they race down the 1.1 mile Pennsylvania Avenue course. Pre- and post-run festivities will be held at the Pour House Bar & Restaurant on Capitol Hill as well as the Capitol Lounge. Doors open at noon with the race starting at 2:00 p.m.

The D.C. and Denver races are currently sold out, but there are still opportunities to race in the other locations. To register, please visit www.cupidsundierun.com.

About the Cupid’s Undie Run

Now in its third-year the Cupid’s Undie Run was founded to raise awareness and funding for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. 100% of funds raised through Cupid's Undie Run goes to the Children's Tumor Foundation. Beginning in 2012, the original Washington, D.C. race was joined by runners in New York City, Atlanta, Seattle, Denver and Cincinnati. The 2012 Cupid's Undie Run in D.C. is proudly presented by Balance Gym, recently named "Best Gym in D.C." by the Washington Post. For more information on the event, registration or making a tax-deductible donation, please visit www.cupidsundierun.com. For media inquiries, please contact bobby@cupidsundierun.com.
