Art and culture in the District of Columbia are often thought to be exclusively west of the Anacostia River. Start things off on Friday by attending a free Ikebana flower arranging demonstration with Jane Redmon at Macy's. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, creates visually striking works. On Saturday, there is a lot going on- you could spend your morning at the Zoo, watching the Animal Demos and Feeding. Things start at 10am there. Afterwards, head over to the Renwick Gallery for the Renwick Craft Invitational 2011 from 10 to 5:30pm to admire the works of the four artists involved.
