County Sets First Health and Wellness Expo

The Prince George’s County Health, Wellness and Recreation Advisory Council (HWRAC) and County Executive Jack B. Johnson are sponsoring the first health and wellness expo, “Wellness Works,” for county employees on October 7. All county employees are encouraged to attend and may be granted up to four hours of administrative leave by their agency or department appointing authority. Executive Jack B. Johnson will be attending.

The expo will feature demonstrations, vendors, informational handouts and various health screenings. This is the first major event sponsored by the HWRAC, which was created earlier this year.

Appearances will be made by County Executive Jack B. Johnson; Dr. Donald Shell, Department of Health Director; and others.

 

WHEN: 

Thursday, October 7, 2010.

Two sessions: one from 8 a.m. to noon, and a second from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

 

WHERE: 

International Walk to School Day

On Wednesday, October 6th, students, Greenbelt Police, council members and others will be walking to school for International Walk to School Day. Both Greenbelt Elementary and Springhill Lake Elementary are participating in this day to promote safer routes to school, healthier kids, as well as environmental awareness. Join in and go car-free tomorrow if you can!
