Suspect charged in Green line train incident

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metro Transit Police charged a 22-year-old with attempted second degree murder Saturday, for an incident that happened Friday night aboard a southbound Green Line train.

Authorities said, Dionte Daniels, 22, of Glenarden, Md. was charged with attempted second degree murder assault and reckless endangerment in connection with an altercation on the Green Line.

Police said the assault happened around 9:30 p.m. while the train was in Prince George's County between Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations.

Police found a 46-year-old man unconscious with life threatening injuries when they got on the train. The man was taken to the hospital and is still in critical condition as of Saturday evening.

A man matching the photo and description, which was broadcast to MTPD officers throughout the Metrorail system, was taken into custody at L'Enfant Plaza Station on Saturday.

Detectives are still looking for any information regarding this incident. Anyone with information should call 202-962-2121.

That subject was subsequently identified as Dionte DANIELS and an arrest warrant was obtained for the charges related to the Green Line incident.
