Extra Virgin Restaurant Announces Top Five Italian Dishes

According to the National Restaurant Association, 66 percent of adults say that their favorite restaurant foods are those that provide flavors and tastes that they cannot easily duplicate in their own kitchens. At Extra Virgin restaurant, they couldn’t agree more, noting that what brings their customers back time and again, in addition to the atmosphere, is taste sensations that most people would find difficult to duplicate at home.

“When people dine out, they want something special, something out of the ordinary that that will give them a great experience,” explains Chef Scott Jenkins, the executive chef at Arlington-based Extra Virgin restaurant. “That’s exactly what we aim to do at Extra Virgin. We want them to love the ambiance and entertainment, but the food is the focus and we want to make it amazing.”

Extra Virgin’s menu offers a wide array of modern Italian food, but they have announced their top five most popular dishes as being:

  • Angry mussels. This popular appetizer is made with smoked pork, garlic, and crushed red chilies, then steamed in peroni.
  • Lobster mac and cheese. This is a dish featuring organic truffle oil and fontina cheese.
  • Sunday sauce pasta. This classic dish features homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, pepperoni and basil marinara atop rigatoni.
  • Seafood mix grill. This fan favorite features shrimp, scallops, calamari and salmon, along with mixed greens, bruschetta tomatoes and lemon vinaigrette.
  • Pizza della casa “casaliva.” This is their traditional pizza, topped with fresh mozzarella, sausage and pepperoni. It’s authentic, hand-tossed, and baked in their brick oven.

“While these are some of our most popular dishes, everyone seems to have their own personal favorite,” adds Chef Jenkins. “Whether you are looking for comfort food or to stretch your culinary wings, we have something for everyone and every occasion.”

Extra Virgin also hosts a variety of live entertainment acts, featuring jazz music, and offers late-night dining. The restaurant, which is located in Arlington, has an olive-oil-inspired menu and décor, and specializes in modern Italian cuisine. Options include such specialties as wood-fired pizzas, pastas, meat, poultry, and seafood, as well as vegetarian options. The restaurant offers lunch specials, as well as new weekly menu specialties.
