Celebrates 51st Anniversary in Sept.

 The Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church festival celebrates their 51st annual festival, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16, 17 and 18, 2011, from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (rain or shine). The largest and oldest DC Greek Festival is located at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the corner of 16th and Upshur streets in Washington, D.C. Admission is FREE.

Every Saturday, the Greenbelt Silver Diner will offer fresh produce from local farms at its Farmers’ Market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This initiative is in line with the Silver Diner's fresh and local initiative, offering traditional menu items made with healthier ingredients. Silver Diner offers menu items that are created using locally sourced ingredients, which include:

Finally something that tastes as good as it looks in the picture. Rita's an ice cream parlor standing by its' mission of providing "Ice Cream Custard Happiness" has become a popular choice amongst District of Columbia and Maryland area residents. Originally started in the summer of 1984, Bob Tumolo, a former Philadelphia firefighter, opened his first store in Bensalem, Pa, deciding to name the then small time ice cream business after his wife, Rita. Initially developing the perfect flavors alongside his mother Elizabeth, the team concentrated on using fresh fruit and natural products in order to provide customer satisfaction.

This morning was full of anticipation and excitement as Joe’s Crab Shack held its Grand Opening in Greenbelt, Maryland. This is Maryland’s second location offering a variety of desirable seafood dishes including steampots, mouth-watering crab dishes featuring Snow, Dungeness, King crab and Maryland Blue crab. The menu also has shrimp, burgers, fish, chicken and festive vacation-style drinks to satisfy any appetite.

The first 100 lucky customers received free crabs for an entire year including University of Maryland Senior, Jackie Hamil, who was the first to enter the new restaurant. She and her friends camped outside last night starting at 10pm waiting for the doors to open and the chance to win.

“This is the greatest day of my life!” exclaimed Hamil.

Maryland’s second Joe’s Crab Shack will open 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 24th, in Greenbelt, at 6002 Greenbelt Road. The first 100 lucky customers will win free crabs for a year!

Guests willbe given  coupons for free desserts, appetizers and entrees in exchange for charitable donations during May and June to "No Kid Hungry". This campaign is a national nonprofit program ending childhood hunger in America.

The Joe’s Crab Shack menu features a variety of craveable seafood including: buckets of mouth-watering crab dishes featuring Snow, Dungeness, King crab and Maryland Blue crab, a wide variety of Steampots, fish, shrimp, burgers, chicken and festive vacation-style drinks amid a carefree atmosphere.
