Each year around the world, International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8.

To mark this special day, Prince George’s County held their 27th Annual Women’s History Month Luncheon in Greenbelt to credit the economic, political, and social achievements of women in the county and around the world.

This event  honored a female Prince George's County Government employee with the Gladys Noon Spellman Public Service Award, as well as presented two $2,000 scholarships to Prince George's County highschool students who showed strong leadership abilities within their school and communities.

“This is an awesome event to bring women together to not just celebrate the achievements of women, but to acknowledge the ongoing challenges women face and how to overcome them ,” explained President of Prince George’s Community College, Dr. Charlene Dukes.
