Police: Suspect chased little girl walking home from bus

GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA9) -- Greenbelt police need your help identifying a suspect who they say chased after a young girl who was walking home from the bus stop.

Police say a six-year-old girl was walking home from a school bus stop in the 8000 block of Mandan Road on Friday, March 21 between 3:40 and 3:50 p.m. when a suspect pulled up alongside her in a vehicle.

The suspect exited his vehicle and began to run towards the girl, who ran into her residence, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene in a small black vehicle. Police say the girl was not injured.

Suspect charged in Green line train incident

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metro Transit Police charged a 22-year-old with attempted second degree murder Saturday, for an incident that happened Friday night aboard a southbound Green Line train.

Authorities said, Dionte Daniels, 22, of Glenarden, Md. was charged with attempted second degree murder assault and reckless endangerment in connection with an altercation on the Green Line.

Police said the assault happened around 9:30 p.m. while the train was in Prince George's County between Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations.

Police found a 46-year-old man unconscious with life threatening injuries when they got on the train. The man was taken to the hospital and is still in critical condition as of Saturday evening.

A man matching the photo and description, which was broadcast to MTPD officers throughout the Metrorail system, was taken into custody at L'Enfant Plaza Station on Saturday.

Man critical after fight on green line train

WASHINGTON (AP) - Metro Transit Police are investigating a fight that happened aboard a green line train and left a man in critical condition Friday night.

Police say the fight between the two men happened between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Friday while the train was traveling between the Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations. Officers boarded the train at Fort Totten and found the man with serious injuries.

He was taken to a hospital. Authorities said he is in critical condition.

The other man was not on the train.

Md. man guilty of sexually exploiting minor

GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to sexually exploiting a minor to produce child pornography, authorities said.

The United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein along with other authorities announced that David Wayne Sweet, 24, of St. Leonard, Md. took 24 sexually explicit pictures of a girl.

Authorities said, the pictures were either taken while the prepubescent girl was either sleeping or naked in the bathtub.

According to his plea agreement, on September 19, 2013 the Calvert County Sheriff's Drug Enforcement Unit searched Sweet's home because of alleged drugs.

Deputies took Sweet's phone and found pictures of a young girl, which were taken between June and September 2013, authorities said.

Sweet had deleted the images, however deputies were able to get all of the pictures, authorities added.

4 men indicted for Md. armed robbery

GREENBELTS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Four men were indicted Wednesday for charges from an armed robbery of employees who were transporting over $79,0000 in an armored truck January.

The United States Attorney for the District of Maryland announced that the following men were indicted for an armed robbery that happened on January 15, 2014:

Antonio Lamar Cooper, age 27, of Washington, D.C.;

Juwan Armarni Watkins, age 21, of Washington, D.C.;

Maurice Lorenzo Foreman, age 22, of Oxon Hill, Maryland; and

Eugene Robert Watkins, age 22, of Washington, D.C.

According to authorities, the men stole a vehicle and drove it to a restaurant on Allentown Road in Morningside, Md. Two armored truck employees were transporting money from the restaurant, when one of the men pointed a gun at the employee's face, authorities said.

2 Md. robbery suspects sought

GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA9) -- Greenbelt Police need your help identifying two suspects in connection with a robbery.

It happened in the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road on December 18.

Police say the victim was selling merchandise out of his book bag in the parking lot of Beltway Plaza when two suspects approached and said they wanted to buy something.

The victim followed the suspects to a parked car and one of the suspects displayed a handgun. The suspects took four belts from the victim and fled the scene in an Acura TSX 4-door, officials said.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 5'6", 160 pounds with a light complexion, wearing a black hat, black jeans, a black jacket and tan boots.

The second suspect is described as a black male 5'8", 175 pounds, wearing jeans, a sweater, tan boots and a black hat.
